The 2.0 CRD engine is a direct-injection masterpiece. When mated to the capability provided by Compass’ 4x4 system, this level of ingenuity and balance is all but unmatched. Every Jeep Compass component has been thoroughly thought out. Its 2.4 dual VVT World Engine (available in local market only with a special order) features electronically controlled dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) which helps improve efficiency while delivering surprising horsepower from its four-cylinder engine.

The 2.0 CRD engine combines world-class materials, such as an alloy cylinder head and deep-skirt, cast-iron cylinder block and die-cast aluminium oil pan, with technology like an electronically controlled high-pressure direct-injection fuel system.

The 2.4 16V dual VVT World Engine is nothing short of a transversely mounted technological masterpiece. Computers electronically control the intake and exhaust camshafts of the engine to continuously adjust the engine’s timing in order to provide maximum power and fuel efficiency.

The Compass offers good MPG across all models. The diesel Limited is the most fuel efficient with 43.5 MPG combined and 52.3 MPG extra urban.

Jeep Compass systems are capable of handling diverse on-road and off-road situations. The Freedom-Drive I™ active full-time four-wheel-drive (4WD) system features an Electromagnetic Controlled Coupling (ECC), which constantly monitors wheel slippage and transfers torque to the axle that can use it most. During high-traction driving, like on the highway, the system transfers virtually no torque to the rear axle for improved fuel economy. Designed around a four-wheel independent suspension, with MacPherson struts up front and a multilink system in the rear, its mountain-cat agility is mated to a drivetrain that’s constantly poised to pounce. The Compass provides year-round driving confidence in any kind of inclement weather condition.
